Seeds of Compassion

Seeds of Compassion was an unprecedented gathering to engage the hearts and minds of our community by highlighting the vision, science, and programs of early social, emotional, and cognitive learning.  Anchored by the deep wisdom of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, this community–focused event celebrated and explored the relationships, programs and tools that nurture and empower children, families and communities to be compassionate members of society.

Working with John Vadino of The Production Network, Bardo Industries was the Event Creative Director and Marketing Strategist. We created the overarching event theme – “What Does Compassion Look Like?™”, which was the cohesive thread throughout the five days of events. We led multiple youth-based initiatives, produced two benefit concerts and pre-concert dialogue featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dave Matthews, and NBC correspondent Ann Curry. We co-coordinated six film crews on the ground to capture the experience, developed and created the compassion stories, staged 20+ art exhibits at venues across Washington State including Seattle Art Museum, Bellevue Art Museum and first Thursday. We oversaw the creative expression of over 100 artists and musicians.

WaMu Photo Pods

When Washington Mutual approached us to create an experiential campaign for WaMu branded venues that would drive traffic to their websites, we created the Photo Pods, a high tech version of the Photo Booth.  Participants swiped WaMu branded cards into a kiosk, had their photos taken, moments later saw the photos projected on screens around the venue and later could access the photos at WaMu’s website.  Originally developed for WaMu, the experiences were expanded to portable photo devices and have been used all over the country by WaMu, Jones Soda and Washington CEO Magazine.

Equalityoga

June 27, 2009 marked the fortieth anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising which launched the LGBTQ rights movement.  To commemorate this historic occasion, we produced an event that drew a diverse group of yogis to practice and ensure all people are safe, equal and protected by law regardless of their race, gender and sex orientation.   The first annual yoga event was open by Washington State Senator Ed Murray.  Proceeds raised benefited Equal Rights Washington and Lambda Legal.  The experience was led by Troy Lucero, Maygen McGrew and Matt Meko. Musical accompaniment provided by Steve Gold and Gina Sala.

GreenNote LogoGreenNote

As a consultant for the first annual GreenNote Festival – where music and environmental awareness converge – we worked with event produced Egan Orion and local environmental organizations to create the most environmentally friendly music festival in Washington State.

Compassion Statements

Inspired by Seeds of Compassion, the Compassion Statements are a series of interviews asking people what compassion looks like to them and how could we create a more compassionate world.  Interviews ranged from youth groups, attendees and volunteers of Seeds of Compassion, NBC News correspondent Ann Curry, scientist Daniel Goleman, musicians Death Cab for Cutie and many more.

The Emotional Revival

At some point in our personal evolutions the majority of people are taught to disengage from their emotional centers, from their hearts.  We are taught that emotions are a weakness and often feel shame and discomfort about them.  The Emotional Revival is series of talks and workshops to revive our emotions, connect to our authentic voices, and experience an integration of mind, body and heart which ultimately leads to more successful experiences both personally and professionally.
